Safety and Facilities Manager

DEPARTMENT: Operations and Human Resources

FLSA: Exempt

SUMMARY

Reporting to the Safety Director, the Safety and Facilities Manager is responsible for the management and oversight of the company’s environmental health, and safety programs. These programs include safety training and OSHA compliance, security, environmental regulations and compliance.  

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Safety and Security

1. Establishes and promotes the maintenance of safe and healthy working conditions, and recommends measures to reduce or eliminate industrial incidents and health hazards in compliance with OSHA regulations
   
2. Prepares OSHA documentation including 300, 300A and other related compliance forms
   
3. Oversees the company’s safety and occupational health program to ensure compliance with established policies and governmental regulations
   
4. Conducts ergonomic analysis and recommends changes in work areas accordingly
   
5. Coordinates inspections and tours of facilities to detect existing or potential accident, fire, and health hazards; and recommends corrective or preventative measures
   
6. Supervises and conducts employee training in accident and fire prevention/protection and other safety programs
   
7. Works collaboratively with manufacturing to ensure the proper implementation and management of the company’s 5S program
   
8. Investigates incidents and injuries
   
9. Provides support in administration of worker’s compensation program
   
10. Responsible for worker’s compensation claims administration and audits, report preparation, and compilation of statistics
    
11. Provides data for government required reporting
    
12. May serve as a liaison with local fire departments, area hospitals, and other outside agencies regarding employee safety and health programs
    
13. Oversees building security and any related vendor contracts including building security alarm, camera security system and third-party security agency
    

Environmental Compliance

1. Ensures that all environmental licensing is current such as:
   
1. Water and storm runoff
   
2. Environmental certifications related to production of furniture such as California’s flammability requirement (CAL 117) and labeling requirements under the law
   

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

1. Experience with implementing safety programs
   
2. Experience in contracts management
   
3. Experience in training and developing safety/security compliance related programs
   
4. Ability to organize and prioritize tasks and projects
   
5. Excellent verbal and written communication
   
6. Ability to interact collaboratively with others
   

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• BA/BS in Management or related field preferred.
  
• Minimum 5 years of EH&S experience in manufacturing required.
  
• OSHA certifications would be a plus.
